External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has arrived in New York to participate in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He will lead the Indian delegation during the High-Level Week of the UNGA.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Jaishankar’s address at the UNGA high-level session is scheduled for September 26.
During his visit, the External Affairs Minister is also expected to participate in several plurilateral and bilateral meetings, providing opportunities for discussions with international partners on matters of mutual interest.
En route to New York, Jaishankar visited Zurich, Switzerland, where he was received by Ambassador Mridul Kumar, India’s Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
The Embassy of India in Switzerland and Liechtenstein said the ambassador briefed the External Affairs Minister on the latest developments, including high-level visits between India, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
Jaishankar’s participation comes during the UNGA High-Level Week, when leaders and senior representatives from countries gather at the United Nations to discuss international and multilateral issues.
India’s delegation will participate in bilateral and plurilateral engagements alongside the high-level session.
